The Board of Governors is a competency-based Board whose composition reflects the knowledge, skills, diversity, and abilities necessary to govern effectively and meet the vision, mission and strategic goals of the University. The Board is comprised of both external and elected Governors.
External Governors bring an independent perspective, as well as a combination of individual skills, expertise, and experience in the governance of other organizations, which contribute to the effective governance and function of the Board and its Committees. The objectivity and impartiality brought by external Governors as a result of their independence from the University are a crucial element of good governance.
Governors are also appointed to a Board Committee and receive ongoing education and learning throughout their time on the Board to support and promote good governance practices. Generally speaking, governor terms are 3 years to a maximum of 2 terms on the Board.
