Academic Council Elections

Nominations are now open for available positions on the University’s Academic Council and Academic Council’s standing committees as part of the 2026 University Elections.

Serving on Academic Council, or one of its standing committees is a meaningful way for members of the University community to contribute their voice and experience to help advance Ontario Tech’s strategic priorities.

How Do Elections Work?

  • Nomination period and how to submit a nomination.

    Nominations will be accepted until Friday, March 6, at 4 p.m.

    Individuals wishing to stand for election must submit one nomination per position. Where multiple positions are available in a particular constituency, a candidate can only be nominated for one position.

    Individuals can only stand for election or nominate a candidate from within their own constituency group.

    If you wish to stand for election, complete and submit online the Nomination and Nominee DeclarationPlease note: if you save the form and return later, or, are submitting for more than one position, please ensure all saved information reflects the one specific position for which you are submitting the nomination.

    As part of completing the Nomination and Nominee Declaration, candidates also must complete and upload one of the following Nomination Declarations:

    These completed and signed forms nominate the candidate, confirm the candidate’s eligibility and their acceptance of the terms and conditions of the nomination.

  • Eligibility Check – The CEO verifies candidates.
    The CEO is responsible for determining that all criteria for eligibility for both nominees and nominators has been met. Nominees will receive notification of their eligibility status.
  • Campaign Period – Candidates engage the community using approved methods.
    Campaigning may only occur during the Campaign Period. Candidates are responsible for ensuring that all aspects of their campaign comply with University's policies. For 2026 the Campaign Period is scheduled to run from March 16-25.
  • Voting Period – A 48-hour online vote determines the winners.
    The Voting Period will be forty-eight (48) hours in duration. Eligible voters are entitled to vote once for each position within their respective constituency. For 2026 the Voting Period is scheduled to run from March 25 at 9 a.m. to March 27 at 9 a.m.
