Chief Emerita Emily Whetung-MacInnes

Chief Emily Whetung-MacInnes grew up in Curve Lake First Nation and left only long enough to pursue higher education at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, and Osgoode Hall Law School at York University in Toronto, Ontario. Having served as Chief of Curve Lake from 2019 to 2022, she is passionate about ensuring the grandchildren of her great-grandchildren have a bright future.  

Chief Emily is the Vice-President of Indigenous Relations and Partnerships at Ontario Power Generation (OPG). In 2023, she was appointed to the Canadian Electricity Advisory Council, which produced a report for the Minister of Natural Resources Canada. Before joining OPG, she was an active participant in the Anishinabek Nation Leadership Council; the Vice-Chair to the Indigenous Advisory Council for the Small Modular (Nuclear) Reactor Action Plan; and a member of Ontario’s Electrification and Energy Transition Panel. She continues to use her expertise and knowledge to ensure the voices of Indigenous people are heard and respected.
