Michael Rencheck
Michael W. Rencheck is Executive Vice-Chair of Bruce Power, serving as a senior advisor to Bruce Power and the nuclear industry. He served as Bruce Power’s President and Chief Executive Officer from 2016 to 2024.
Over his 40-year career in the energy sector, he has held numerous senior leadership roles. Prior to joining Bruce Power, he was Deputy Chief Operating Officer for AREVA Group, where he oversaw an extensive global capital portfolio of nuclear and renewable projects. He also held several senior positions at American Electric Power, including Senior Vice-President and Chief Nuclear Officer.
The National Safety Council has recognized him for his leadership and personal commitment to worker health and safety. The United States Department of Energy also designated him as a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) ambassador.
As part of its Ontario Business Achievement Awards, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce named him 2020 CEO of the Year. In 2022, Electricity Human Resources Canada named him Leader of the Year for his contributions to workforce development in the energy sector. In 2024, the US Nuclear Industry Council recognized his career with its “Trail Blazer” award.
He is deeply committed to organizations that make a difference in people’s lives, including Habitat for Humanity and United Way.
Mike is a Professional Engineer and certified senior reactor operator. He serves on the Board of Directors for the World Association of Nuclear Operations, Hydro One, the Technical Standards and Safety Authority, and Framatome (US) Inc.
