Nolan Bederman


Nolan Bederman has a distinguished track record of successfully investing in and building high-growth North American companies. As a long-term investor, owner and board leader, he partners with management teams to drive organic growth, operational and technological transformation, strategic acquisitions and leadership development. He has served as Chair or Lead Director of more than 30 public and private company boards.

He began his career in investment banking in the U.S. mergers and acquisitions group of Merrill Lynch & Co., where he became Vice-President, before joining CIBC Capital Partners in private equity. He subsequently co-founded and built Genuity Capital Partners with former CIBC colleagues into a North American mid-market private equity fund. Following this, he founded his own investment firm, through which he has pursued a direct and engaged investment approach.

Nolan serves as Board Chair and Director of several public and private companies across North America, and has extensive experience chairing and serving on audit, governance, compensation and special committees. He also serves on the Board as well as the Resources and Audit Committee of William Osler Health System. He is an Executive-in-Residence at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management, where he received the Arbor Award for outstanding volunteer service, and mentors students through the Leadership, Exploration, Advice, Development and Success program.

He holds a Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration from the University of Toronto, where he received the Gold Medal for graduating first in his class. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Western University, where he received the Chancellor's Prize for graduating first in the Economics department as well as the Faculty of Social Science.
